Board Report : May 5, 2009, Susan Robinson

Fifth grade worked hard on their MAP tests. They are glad to have that finished for the year. High score in math was Kelsey Shelton with a score of 252. High gains were KassaDee Jarvis with an increase in score of 14 points and Marissa Hillebert with a 10 point gain. High score in reading was Wyatt Mendez with a score of 236. High gain was Joel Mendoza with a gain of 13 points. High score in language was Kelsey Shelton with a score of 234. High gain was Logan Klump with a gain of 7 points.

We have a new student in 5^th grade; Daniel Roth joined us the Monday after Easter. His family has moved to the Portal area.

Mr. Ray Mendez came to class on Wednesday, May 6 and gave a wonderful presentation on Gabon Africa. As always, Mr. Mendez was informative, but also encourages students to do their best, to reach to learn in all areas, and to dream big. The students always enjoy his visits.

We will be going on our field trip to Bisbee and Tombstone on May 15^th. The kids are really excited and I am delighted to have a number of parents going also.

This has been a good year and we have done a lot of hard work. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer.
