May Board Report
By Richard Thatcher
Our off season middle school program is progressing
well. We temporarily stopped lifting weights due to the prom and related
activities. We should begin again this
week. We are working with several
students whose grades were well below average at mid-term. Most of them have
improved their grades significantly.
My Algebra II classes have just finished working
with quadratic equations. Ffollowing the test we will be working with exponents
to finish the year. We have missed 10 classes this semester due to all of the
testing that is mandated for juniors. The honors students presented their Power
Point presentations to the class. Joli
O’Byrne and Marissa Elias did a particularly good presentation.
In my Algebra
classes, we are working on exponents and now on polynomials. Several students
have shown significant progress since the progress reports were sent home. The
8th grade Algebra class is performing well. Since we downloaded an
electronic copy of the Algebra book to the student’s laptops, they have been
able to find definitions at a much faster rate.
This year’s freshmen will have to pass Algebra II in order to receive
their diplomas.
In my
Math-Lab, We are using the Plato software program. Our students are working on
becoming proficient in the areas of their math weakness.
