Class description: This class will study the basics of biological sciences which include The cell theory, cell structure, Mitosis and Meiosis, Genetics, Monerans, Protists, Fungi, Plants, Invertebrate Animals, Vertebrate animals, Human evolution and human biology, environmental science and the relationship between living and non living in ecosystems.
Class expectations: I expect each student to come to class on time, prepared and have a positive attitude. Students should complete all of the work assigned on time and with their best effort. Students should use class to work on assignments. Labs should be completed safely and seriously. Please ask questions if you don’t understand something. Students should treat each person in class with respect.
Class Materials: 1 Three ring notebook with two 70 page spiral paper notebooks
1 set of colored pencils, 1 metric ruler, 1 package of reinforcements, scissors
Class Rules (additional to school policy)
1. Be seated when bell rings
2. Listen to instructions the first time give
3. No talking during instruction, lecture, or individual work
4. Labs should be conducted safely and quietly
5. One person talks at a time during discussions
6. Take care of equipment
7. No food or drink in class
Class grading: Grades will be determined by the following criteria
1. Complete lab and lecture notebooks graded every two weeks 40%
2. Test scores and quizzes 50%
3. Class participation and other projects 10%
4. Large projects may take the place of test scores when they are assigned
5. Extra credit will only be offered to the entire class not individuals
